Odd solstice visitor

pine siskin sideOn this first day of summer, I was surprised to see a Pine Siskin on the feeders. Siskins are normally seen here in the Willamette Valley from November through April, before heading to higher elevations to nest.

pine siskin frontThe bird seemed a little fluffy, but otherwise didn’t show any indication that he was ill.

  1. Double oddness… I just had two Siskins at my feeder near the NE end of Tryon Creek Park. They both appeared quite active and healthy.
