This Black-capped Chickadee is drinking from the ant moat of one of my hummingbird feeders. There is a bird bath about four feet away, but perhaps this bird prefers the safety of this less-accessible source.

Ha, that looks like a lot of work compared to using the bird bath!
I’ve even tried adding 2 hanging ant moats to my feeder just like this, I put water only in the middle one and yet they still get in, mainly Carolina chickadees and goldfinch. The hummer didn’t seem to mind the chickadee, kind of lol. I have now put an old hummingbird feeder that attaches to the window about 2 feet from the hummingbird feeder….let the experiment begin lol

Cute! I have two of those same feeders and haven’t seen that trick yet!
